Kings Point at Sun City Center

Cypress Creek Rehab

The flowing water was steady during the entire job. It was twenty-five to thirty feet wide, and knee-deep in places. The sandy slopes needed protection and the flow could not be dammed off to install the GFFR.

That continuous water flow presented several challenges: from getting the Geotextile materials across and up the opposite slope, to keeping the Fabric Revetment in place prior to filling it with grout, and even during the pour the current wanted to move any unfilled Geotextile and Fabric Revetment downstream.  By the grace of God, our seasoned installers worked right through the installation and built a beautiful structure.

The project turned out ahead of schedule. No dewatering was needed.

The owners have an easy-to-maintain concrete-lined stormwater ditch which can be cleaned out using a long-reach track hoe from one side of the channel.  Also, the ditch can be treated to keep vegetation from growing if so desired, and yet keep its stability in tack with no erosion.

The GFFR we installed was 8 inch Filter Point Mat.  An 8" Filter Point Mat is distinguished by the 8-inch spacing of the Points of Filtration. It starts as a two-layered woven fabric cloth with the top and bottom layers joined together every 8 inches on center. That joined area holds no concrete when the mat is installed, creating a water filtration point in the product. When the form is inflated with concrete it becomes a monolithic concrete slab with an average thickness of 4 inches, and filtration points every 8 inches on centers. With a Nonwoven Geotextile Underlayment, the soils will remain in place underneath the Grout Filled Fabric Revetment and groundwater can percolate through as needed.
